East Nepean has transitioned to a new registration system effective January 2024. As a result, members ( new or existing members) will need to create new member profiles. If a player has played East Nepean previously, when creating your account, you must choose " new" player, as the system recognizes all players as new. ( If you currently registered in one of East Nepean's 2024 winter camps, you do not need to create another account).

Spring Season at a Glance…

Season Dates:

ENLL aims to be on the diamonds starting the 1st of May. Families should plan for a start of the season as of May 1 with the season concluding by end of June.

The official start date is influenced by weather and ensuring the fields are safe to play on. We are not allowed to start our season until the City of Ottawa, clears the fields for play. As we get closer to May, information on the official start date will be shared.

Sort Outs - Rookie, Minor, Major, Junior, Senior

ENLL will be hosting a mix of indoor and outdoor sort-outs in March and April in advance of the season. Sort out dates are currently planned for March 30th, April 6th and April 13th. Sort outs are used to assess player skills to ensure they are placed within the appropriate level for their age group. Information regarding sort outs will be sent by Divisional Directors once it is closer to the date.

Players are encouraged to attend their sort-out slot provided as it is a key piece to ensuring players are placed in the appropriate level and teams are balanced. If a player is unable to make a sort out time, the Divisional Director will work with the family and the league to assess the best level.

Start of the Season

The spring season is expected to start in early May.

As noted earlier, the start of the season can be weather challenged. The City may only release the diamonds at the last minute or even delay if too wet. We will do everything we can to ensure a smooth season start, but please understand that some things are out of our control.

Game Days

Divisions will generally have two games a week. These games are generally scheduled throughout the week. While some divisions may have set days during the week, if games are rescheduled due to weather or other circumstances, they can be scheduled on any day of the week. Due to the number of fields and games, ENLL can not guarantee game days.

The schedule is not available until late April, once we know the number of players registered, and we can assess the number of teams each division requires and number of ball diamonds/fields.

Volunteering

Get involved. East Nepean Little League is a volunteer run organization. Helping to set-up a field, scorekeeping, coaching, umpiring, and league convenors are all areas where we need help. Every little bit counts and enhances the experience for our children. It can be a little intimidating at the start – it was the same for all of us. If you are not sure how you can help, please ask. It is appreciated!

Thinking Ahead to the Summer Season

For divisions Rookie through to Senior, Summer Baseball is the second half of the baseball season in East Nepean and runs in July and August. Players must have played in the Spring Season to play in the summer. For more information, contact your coaches or division directors.

SUMMER SEASON

Important Information, East Nepean Summer Season
Summer baseball is the second half of the East Nepean Baseball Season and runs in July and August. It is an opportunity for players to continue to play and develop but may also offer a chance to experience inter-league play across the city.

East Nepean runs a summer program for Rookie, Minor, Major, Junior, and Senior levels.

· Rookie: Canadian and National levels will be offered*
· Minor & Major: East Nepean will offer three levels of play; All-Star, Canadian and National*
· Junior: All-Star, Canadian and National levels will be offered*
· Senior: All- Star, Canadian, and National levels will be offered*

*Final levels offered are dependent on the number of registrations for the summer program in each division and as a result are subject to change if the registration numbers do not allow for some levels

Summer All-Star: Team selection processes are announced by the All-Star Coaches in Spring. Teams at this level will compete in the All-Star division of the D2/D6 summer interlock league and enter the Little League International Tournament. Additional weekend tournaments are generally added along with an intense practice schedule. This team is a tryout process and not all players who try out will be selected.

Canadian Level: ENLL enters 1-2 teams (registration dependent) in a redefined D2/D6 competitive Canadian Division. Teams will be selected through a skills evaluation process similar to Spring Sort-Outs, along with input from spring coaches. Teams will play a full D2/D6 interlock schedule against other competitive teams in the region. It is possible that these teams will enter several weekend tournaments and run a full practice schedule.

National Level: The National level will continue. Its key focus is player development and fostering a love of the game in an inclusive environment. Every attempt will be made to accommodate ALL registered players. Sort-outs will be used to ensure balanced teams are created. Equal play and development in a safe fun environment is the focus.
