East Nepean Little League is proud to announce our All Star Coaches for the 2024 season. Please see the individual profiles below.


 

2024 Minor All Star Coach: Steven Cote 


East Nepean Little League is very happy to have Steven Cote back leading the Minor All Star team for the 2024 season.  Steven was the 2023 Minor All Coach and lead his team to a successful season with the 2023 Minor All Stars winning the D2/D6 Championship.  The goal this season will be to defend this title while also competing for a provincial championship.  

Steven has a wide range of baseball experience including, player, umpire, and coaching. In addition, Steven has been a volunteer with East Nepean Little League for several years and has been a head coach at the Canadian level in our Rookie, Minor and Major Divisions, and was the 11year old ENLL All Star team Coach in 2020 and the Assistant Coach for the 2022 ENLL Major All Stars.  
 

 


 

2024 Major All Star Coach: Michael O’Byrne 


East Nepean Little League is happy to announce that Michael O’Byrne has been chosen to lead our 2024 Major Eagles All Star Program. Michael has a long history with ENLL. Most recently he led the 2022 Minor All Stars to a District Championship and a provincial semi-final berth. Last Summer Michael’s U12 Canadian team went undefeated during the regular season, capturing the D2/D6 championship.

In 2004 he was an assistant coach on the first ever ENLL team to advance to the LL World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Michael and his coaching staff are determined to make 2024 a season to remember. He says success will not only be measured in wins and losses. Michael believes that a team first philosophy built around respect, friendships, hard work, skill development and a love of the game will provide the foundation for a fun, successful season. 
 


 

2024 Junior All Star Coach: Shelby Guthrie 

East Nepean Little League is pleased to announce that returning for another year of All Star Coaching is Shelby Guthrie. For the 2024 season, Shelby will be taking on the role of Junior All Star Head Coach.  This is a change in division for Shelby, who was head Coach for the 2023 ENLL Major All Star team. During the 2023 season, Shelby, saw the Major team bring home gold in five tournaments and took home the D2/D6 Championship. 

Shelby has been actively involved in managing and coaching for nearly 20 years in both Little League and adult baseball as a player/coach in the NCBL and FMBA.  Shelby’s involvement with East Nepean has been at the Canadian and All-Star levels, including Assistant Coach with the 2022 ENLL Major All Stars and ENLL’s Rookie teams in 2018 and 2019. 

Over the off season, Shelby has been leading to winter camps for East Nepean and ensuring that baseball players from all ages are able to enjoy the baseball season, even in the winter. In the 2024 season, Shelby is looking forward to the challenge of guiding the team through the adjustments and further development that the game commands at the Junior level.
 


 

2024 Senior All Star Coach: Matt Beelen 

Matt Beelen one of East Nepean longest serving All Star Coaches returns to Coach the 2024 ENLL Senio All Star Team. The 2023 season was Matt’s first season as a Senior All Star Coach and was able to achieve the goal of all All-Star teams, to reach the World Series. Under Matt’s guidance, the 2023 Senior All Star team were 2023 Senior League Canadian Champions and represented Canada in the 2023 Senior League World Series. 

Matt brings to the Senior All Star team an extensive background in baseball. Including as a player himself for 35+ years and as an ENLL coach for 12+ years including all levels, T-Ball, Rookie, Minor, Major, Intermediate, Junior, and Senior. 

Matt brings extensive All Star Coaching experience to this team, having been an All-Star Coach in Minor (3 years), Intermediate (1 year) and Senior (1Year). Matt has been an All-Star Coach, in 6 district tournaments, 2 provincial tournaments and 2 national championships. Matt’s track record continues into the summer season with teams finishing in top of their standings through the majority of his coaching career.  In addition to Baseball, Matt brings a solid Coaching foundation from hockey where he has extensive coaching experience in both House and Competitive league competition.
